What is an Exchequer Order and Consolidated Bank Annuities
« on: Saturday 11 May 19 06:32 BST (UK) »
From a will written 1787 London, Exchequer Order number in the name of . What would this refer to?

Consolidated Bank Annuities?
No mention is made of a particular bank, so would this be something purchased on the stock exchange.

As far as I can see it apparently means an order made by The Court of Exchequer in respect of some civil dispute. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Court_of_Exchequer_Chamber

Just beat me to it Stan
looks as if an 'Exchequer Order' was an order made by the Court of Exchequer.
