Contributory cause of death ?** COMPLETED**
« on: Sunday 12 May 19 13:29 BST (UK) »
Hi

I just can't figure out this condition on a death cert of a 1st cousin, 3 x removed. It was  issued 29 Nov 1930, Waynesburg, Pennsylvania

Main cause of death was cardio vascular disease. This is given as contributory/secondary cause.

Any ideas, please?

I think it is arterio sclerosis.

I think it is arterio sclerosis.

Ah yes, that would be more likely!

arterio would be more likely as the whole family seemed to have died from such causes but the letters are very scribbled - can't find any other  ts to check if they're crossed.

Thanks both  :)

The problem was degenerative changes in the arteries, characterized by thickening of the vessel walls and accumulation of calcium with consequent loss of elasticity and lessened blood flow.

Thank you, Barry. It's quite a common cause of death. Many of my family (including my father, 2 grandparents and many cousins and uncles/aunts) died of this or similar.
