In 1979 your mother received a copy of her birth record, recording her adopted parents.

The letter, which I suspect is also written 1979, makes reference to the original birth record for Myrtle Jean, born 24 Jan 1920.        You need to see this original document.

Check the Tas. BDM website for yourself, but I am seeing that anyone can access a birth record for a birth that occurred 100 years ago. For more recent births there are qualifiers for the applicant.

I think it would be best to wait six months, and apply for a copy of the original certificate.

It would be useful to see the place of birth, the date and place of registration, name of informant.

When Louisa Jane Febey, married, 26 years, of Punt Road, Windsor, was struck by a motor bus at the intersection of Bourke and Swanston Streets at 8 a.m. on September 20, she sustained injuries, from which she died at the Melbourne Hospital two hours later.
