Matching image and description of a coat of arms
« on: Tuesday 14 May 19 18:02 BST (UK) »
The image is the description of a coat of arms from the visitation of Norfolk in 1563 for the Cockett family ( I do appreciate that it should only be for one person).

Can someone who understands the terminology please let me know if it matches the image here https://www.houseofnames.com/product/Family+Crest+Image+%28JPG%29+Heritage+Series+%2D+600+DPI

many thanks

Per bend means divided by a line from top right to bottom left, looking at the front.  Sable and argent means the two halves are black and silver (white).  The three fleurs-de-lys are symbolically lilies and they are arranged along the diagonal 'bend' with the colours swapped so that each fleur is alternated black with white and white with black.

That is very different from the coat of arms on the link.  The companies that produce those are not known for their historical accuracy.

Yes, that is it.  I got 'top right to bottom left' the wrong way round.

Edward, yes, the blazon, the heraldic description, matches the image.
