Makes sense Skoosh.  Assume there was also a textile industry as Vina was listed as a flax mill worker.

It would be the flax mills in Ireland but cotton in Glasgow's east-end, a short tram-ride away. the Garngad had a glass-works which drew folk from Ireland, England & Bohemia, would U believe, also Tennants chemical works which became the ICI plus distilleries in Port Dundas!
