Surname Anselmi
« on: Friday 17 May 19 23:11 BST (UK) »
Hi Folk's,I'm fortunate to have a dozen or so photos of my Dad's time in the army 1944 to 46,some group shot's have his comrade's names written on the back most fairly common British in origin but a couple have a Steve Anselmi named.I thought it an unusual name obviously Italian in origin but nothing matches in free Bmd maybe to see where he originated from.Any thought's?

Could you post the photos? Might he be an American soldier?

For those with an Ancestry sub there is this Steve Anselmi in uniform, born 1910: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/mediaui-viewer/tree/9325568/person/-818873902/media/b037f166-2c93-498c-ac32-90a2dfbd78a6

ADD -father, John Anselmi, was Austrian

Ties in with Shaun's photo link

Not sure if this link will work. They are Jack Kay,Stan Smith(dad) Joe Francis
and Steve Anselmi,I would have thought he'd be British but no one seem's to
fit for British birth's on BMD.

Perhaps Steve was an anglicised name. This may lead him to be Silvio Anselmi. Freebmd has a birth in 1926, I think and a marriage in 1948.
