Hi
Looking for a Samuel Burgin born about 1726.  Not sure if Duffield or Heanor in Derbyshire.
Spelling of Burgin can be quite varied.

I have found a Samewell Burgin married a Sarah Needham on 4th May 1753 in Duffield,
Children:
There appears to be 2 x William Burgins about the same time with parents Samuel (spelt in various ways) and Sarah:

William Burgin bap 31.10.1756 (presbyterian or unitarian) of Duffield
William Burgin bap 12.10.1756 of St Laurence, Heanor
suggesting that there are two Samuel and Sarah's, but cannot find any info for Heanor couple.
Can anyone help at all?
Thank  you

Hi,

Just checked the Duffield marriage 1753, images of the register are on Ancestry, it states

Sam’l (Samuel) Burgoine = Sar. Needham 4th May 1753

The Bpt in Duffield Presbyterian states

William son of Samuel And Sarah Burgin of Connor was Bpt October 31 1756. ( image Ancestry).

The Record in Heanor register states  (image Ancestry)

William ye son of Samewell and Sarah Burgin of Codnor
was born ye 11th October ( could be 14th as difficult to read)  the words immediately below this I.e.
Wood October 12th belong to the next entry, although written above the entry.

So it would appear the Heanor entry is only recording the birth, the actual Bpt for this Heanor family took place in Duffield.

The marriage took place in the Church of England, only place allowed by law, but the Bpt took place in their own church I.e. Presbyterian.

I would suggest that Sarah originated from the parish of Duffield, and probably returned home to have her first child as was the custom.
