Try this....only 2 results, click Image to get details! mother's maiden name on it!

A nice easy one where you can learn How to find records rather than me just posting a Cert and you never learn  ;D

as you see...very few details for search!

;D   There's now stopping you now!!

Searching is quite easy once one only puts in what they actually know!  If one doesn't know District then leave District blank etc

Have you tried Death of Parents etc  ?

Based on what you now know, have you tried 1911 Census for any Carmody, Carpenters   ?

Ah, thanks :-) My James Carmody in Limerick in 1910 would have been 70 so that fits. I think the one in Co Clare is a different James Carmody.

However I found a possible family in the 1901 census - the address seems to match:
Residents of a house 15.2 in Mary Street (Limerick Urban No. 2, Limerick)
Carmody James 68 Male Head of Family R C  carpenter born Co Clare
Carmody Mary 52 Female Wife R C housekeeper born Co Clare
Carmody Sarah 22 Female Daughter R C  Dress ??? born Limerick
Carmody Edward 20 Male Son R C carpenter born Limerick

but I can't find a marriage for James to Mary or the births of Sarah or Edward. :-(

There are also RC registers online...  https://registers.nli.ie but which Church and do they have years you need?

Just start typing the Church.. e.g. St. Munchin's   and the site will suggest them as you enter name!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm working my way through them :)

Have you tried Death of Parents etc

I only know that James was the illegitimate son of Catherine Carmody. Nothing obvious - no death in Limerick under Carmody but she may have married. Or died - again nothing obvious.

Based on what you now know, have you tried 1911 Census for any Carmody, Carpenters   ?

Yes, no result but there was a James and Ellen Carmody in Gurrane in 1901 and 1911. He was born about 1857, son of Daniel and married in 1899 to Ellen Donohoe.

There are also RC registers online...  https://registers.nli.ie but which Church and do they have years you need?

Good question. I'll start with any Carmodys in Fedamore and see if I can connect them up.
