Robert Jacob c1693. Benson, or Stadhampton, Oxon.
« on: Tuesday 21 May 19 21:45 BST (UK) »
Hi all.

Robert Jacob and Mary Smms, married 29 Aug 1691 @ Benson. Both of Stadhampton.

Could some kind soul take a peek in Benson and Stadhampton please, for a baptism of Robert Jacob/Jacobs, around 1693 ish . :-*

It's a bit of a punt really. ::)

The Robert Jacob I'm after, was father of Robert Jacob(jnr), 1719 Princes Risborough, Bucks.

Robert Jacob(c1693) was buried in 1742, Princes Risborough, Bucks.(no age given).

No marriage or baptism found in Bucks, so Oxfordshire is usualy my first port of call.

Thanks folks.

Steve. :)

Hi Steve :)

Tried Benson and Stadhampton PR images on Ancestry from 1690 to just after 1700 - nothing :(

Also county-wide baptism searches for just JACOB(S), and for Robert+Robert (father), any date - more nothing :(

Hate giving bad news :'(

Thanks Carol. :)

Not sad news, I am lucky to get back this far, when some others fall at the first hurdle.

I had found 2 other marriages in London, in 1716 & 1717 that may fit.  It's all a bit of a punt again. ;D

Anyway, thanks for looking.

Hello
I can't see a baptism but there is a Will
John Roberts of Ewelme blacksmith.
He has no children by the looks of it but does mention his nephew Robert Jacobs.
Also servant Mary Moore-house for life
nephew William Jacob -his household furniture
niece Ann Reeves children  and children of nephew Robert Jacobs get residue of estate.

dated 16.8.1768.

John and Jane Jacobs are the couple having children in Benson c 1700 .-Richard 1699,Anne 1701,John 1702,Edmund 1704,William 1705,Ann 1710,John 1711,and William 1713

There is also a Will form a Robert Jacob of Stadhampton  in 1715 .Carpenter
I can spot a son John and his son John , and wife /daughter Ann ,sister Susannah ,son Thomas but I'm struggling to read the rest.

Not sure of that helps really but though I'd pass it on

William Jacobs, son of Robert and Mary, was baptised 1717 Princes Risborough.

I wonder where John Roberts might fit in, if there is a link.

Does the Will mention any places for Robert & William Jacobs.?

Hi
Robert Jacobs is of Stadhampton.
he leaves his house there to his son John (who has been apprenticed in London)
£20 to daughter  Ann six years after my death
£20 to sister Susanna after 6 years
? to somebody 7 years after my death
the bedstead and hangings  to daughter Amelia
son Robert gets house in Dorchester five years after my death
son Thomas my working tools and clothes
If my wife remarries after my death she gets 1 shilling
grandson John son of John senior and John Harding my trustees
Mary Jacob his widow gets the Will proved. It's written in his own hand and he is obviously very ill but her signature is quite firm. It's proven at Dorchester Jurisdiction?
It has an inventory that comes to £97

John Jacobs Will (there seems to be two copies and this is from the neater one in a ledger .I took the original info from the rougher original?copy)
William Jacob son of Robert Jacob of Ewelm my nephew to get the house I now dwell in.If dead or no heirs then Property to eldest  son of Thomas  Reeves of Ewelm
John Frances of Nuffell blacksmith 2 guineas
There is money to servants and friends including Mrs Moore,Robert Bruche,Mrs Charles Eyre.
He wants to buries in a tomb next to his loving wife and mother
£10 of coal and irons to nephew Robert Jacobs
clothing to Thomas Reeves.
A town clock of Ewelme  and a lot of things for the poor.
The codicil goes on to mention the children of my niece Ann Reeves and children of nephew Robert Jacobs.
A second codicil gives Robert Jacobs £80.in May 1769.

In the original rougher copy which is a lot shorter William Jacobs nephew is mentioned but no clue on his location. It has the same executors ,date of death ,occupation etc.

No mention in either for John  Jacobs of places outside the area.
