1903 seems to run on more of the machines I've tried than 1809 did - that one refused to start the setup on a couple of boxes.
All versions have trouble with older drivers, and video hardware seem to be the part most likely to have support dropped by the various makers. You can get by with a video driver built for a Windows version as old as Vista, but it becomes more fragile.
If you want to run Win10 with old drivers, it is likely that you will need to turn off the "Fast Start" option. Fast Start relies on newer features being implemented in the drivers to deal with power management, and if they don't exist, or don't work properly, Windows will crash. Without Fast Start, things are done in the same way as in Windows 7.
To turn it off, head to Start menu, Windows System, Control Panel.
In Control Panel, select Power Options.
On the left, select Choose what the power buttons do.
Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Untick the box for Turn on fast start-up.
Click Save Settings.
As I mentioned, the video drivers are the most likely to have problems on older hardware, but second on the list are drivers for WiFi. The symptom is that the connection works fine, but after Shut Down and restart, you see the right network, but Windows says it can't connect to it. Disabling fast start makes Windows do a better initialisation of the hardware.
