If Mary and John divorced, have you looked for a possible remarriage for John? On the SP indexes there is one marriage in 1982 in Saltcoats and another in Stevenson in 1967. This is with John's full name including his middle name.

The following gent may be the object of your search. A "John McA Walker" died in the latter half of May 1963 at Ladyford Avenue, Kilwinning. His widow was Annabel (m.s. BROWNLIE) WALKER, aged 70yrs.
Note:  "McA" sic; ie. exactly as recorded.

FYI. Possible parents for Mary:
William (d. 22 April 1964, Stevenston) and Catherine McBLAIN (d. 28 June 1953, Kilwinning).
Known children - William, Mary, Rena, Elsie, Margaret.

Interestingly, a John C McBLAIN died early-mid October 1962 at Kirkhall Dve Ardrossan. He was the husband of a Catherine Lamont.

Thank you for your reply. They could be his parents.  :D
Mary was my mum and she remarried in 1969. My maternal grandparents, Joseph and Clara moved to Oxford a little while after my mum and I, and lived up the road from us until Clara died and he moved back to Scotland to die.  :'(
John Mcauley Walker could have married again, and it looks like he did - twice!. I have had a reply of some marriages that may be interesting to follow regarding him.
Again, thank you for your replies, you are very helpful as this is a new experience for me. Where is all this information, I can't be looking in the right places.

The following website lists the Birth, Deaths, Marriage, and, in some instances, the Engagement and Anniversaries published in the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald:

http://www.ayrshire-roots.co.uk/index1.php

It's an excellent and free website for research purposes. Should you chose to register and search, be aware the date shown at each and every entry is NOT the date of the occurance but the publication date of the A&S Herald.

To my earlier post, Catherine's maiden surname was "Clark" and add Sally and Agnes to her children.

Also for official copies of Scottish records the only place is https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

The records you would be looking at fall within the privacy period but you can order them for £12 each
If you want to continue tracing your family once you go beyond the privacy period you can download them at a much cheaper cost

'A "John McA Walker" died in the latter half of May 1963 at Ladyford Avenue, Kilwinning'

Why is that not appearing on Scotlandspeople?
