Millbrook Cottage, Llanhamlach, Brecknock, Powys

I have an ancestor, William Rufus Diamond, who lived at Millbrook Cottage, Llanhamlach, Brecknock, Powys with his wife, Amy, from at least 1891 until 1899 when Amy died. Does anyone know where Millbrook Cottage is (or was)? I'm afraid that I have no pictures or other information to help. I do know that Amy was interred somewhere in Brecon.

Thanks for the link, but I do not see any reference to a cottage. The address I have is definitely Millbrook Cottage. Would this perhaps be another building on the mill site/farm. Do you know if the cottage still stands today - perhaps under a different name?

There is a Millbrook Farm, and a Millbrook Mill but they are both fairly close - albeit divided by the A40.  I have no idea about the history of the farm, but the link I gave says a little about the history of the mill.  I am thinking that the farm and the mill might well have been under the same ownership at one time, and it's really a matter of whether the cottage was adjacent the mill, or on the farm.   I'll have a look and see if I can find any info locally.    Pity you didn't post last week, as I did a long walk along the canal in that area,  and could have diverted and done a bit of a recce!

I've just found these estate agents' particulars which states that there is a detached cottage in addition to the mill, so that's a possible site.

That is absolutely brilliant. Millbrook Cottage might have been the cottage shown in picture number 2 of the estate agents particulars, but of course there could also have been a cottage on the farm. I wonder if the same estate agents ever sold the farm: there might be more pictures with those particulars. I must admit it would be nice to know the history of the two properties. The 1899 census (RG12/4572 Fo 47 Page 3) shows the three properties together on the same page: the farm is doing dairy and the mill is being operated as a mill.
