1670 Scottish record

Can anyone with some Scottish knowledge help with the abbreviated word at the end of the third line of this image, please?  It's a baptism from 1670, Haddington.
The line reads George Forrest, Baillie, Robert Robertsone **** , followed by James Smyth (these are witnesses to the baptism).  I can see The* and I think it must be some sort of title. 
Any ideas welcomed!

I have just found the same abbreviation again, this time clearer, so I'm adding it too.

It is "there", i.e. in the last place mentioned. If no place-name is mentioned in the text, then "there" will refer to Haddington.

I don't think that it is 'there' because it only appears after this one person's name and nowhere else.

Unless it is an abbreviation of "thesaurer". That's the Scots word for "treasurer". Maybe that's more likely since a baillie is mentioned - both men would be burgh officials.

I think you may have cracked it!   
I had the suspicion that it would be the abbreviation of an office, since Baillies, Provosts and Deans of Gild are mentioned from time to time.
