John William’s parents were Richard maskell and Sarah coster Stowers born c1836 who married in 1871 in West Ham. This Richard according to census was born c1813. According to 861 census he was then married to Eliza and had a son Richard who was born in 1838. He also seems to flit between being Richard maskell peacock and Richard maskell??

There is also a Richard Maskell born c1838 who marries emma stebbing Stowers born c1841 in 1867 in Maldon district. Emma and Sarah were both born in Tillingham according to the census so that’s where the Stowers bit came from? Sisters marrying a widowed father and his son, I have think.

Richard and Sarah had a daughter Ann alloway in 1874.

Sarah coster Stowers 27/9/1835 and Emma stebbing Stowers we’re both the children of John and Ann Stowers. They were born in Tillingham.

Richard maskell 3/12/1837 was born in Tillingham to Richard maskell and Eliza peacocke ... although sometimes it’s written as though he is Richard maskell peacocke. Hard to tell. Will see if I can find a marriage.

Interestingly, on the same day, John coster married Sarah Stowers, witnesses John Stowers, Ann stowers, William Stowers and Eliza stowers.
All at Tillingham.

Thank you so much for your replies, that's amazing.
I was stumped as I could not (and still cannot) find Annie & John's marriage on Ancestry or FamilySearch !
Will now go through all these records.
Thanks again.

They’re all on SEAX - Essex Parish records online. You mainly need Buttsbury/tillingham /Bradwell/Dengie parishes, so although it’s a subscription site, you could get quite a lot for about £10 for a 24 hour sub. You can save the images for your files too that way.

Do you need to go back further from the two or were they just a sideline of research?

Thanks nannyj.
Have used SEAX before, with great results.
The Smiths intermarried with the Greens ,the Greens,my direct line, farmed in West Hanningfield from the mid 18th century, and like the Smiths (originally from Theydon Garnon ) lost everything in the turn of the century farming crisis,(my great grandfather lost his farms and ended up as a dock labourer in Tilbury Docks).
