Help with William Hargreaves Profession
« on: Tuesday 28 May 19 22:50 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Trying to decipher what William Hargreaves profession is in this document.

The transcription of the record only states "retired". Can anyone read the word that comes after that?

Thank you from Ottawa, Canada

tradesman
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thank you.
That is what I thought, but the last letter does not look like the letter -n-

Have you found him in a census to find an earlier occupation? You might be able to narrow down what trade he was in.

Unfortunately I have not been able to find him on any censuses as of yet. His marriage record shows his occupation as "Draper".

I already have a thread going on the Lancashire board about him and his family. That is where the suggestion of posting a copy to this board came from.

Thanks for your help.
