Polish Birth Record
« on: Saturday 01 June 19 06:35 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I’m researching my German side and I have a birth record for my ggggrandmother, Emilia Michel, born in 1840 in Pabianice, Poland.  She’s German (I think!) but I’m pretty sure the record is in polish.  I can see her father’s name Jozef Michel and a couple other names but I’m not sure who they are because I can’t read the context.  If anyone out there can read/translate this and can tell me who it’s mentioning or any locations that are mentioned, that would be fantastic.  Specifically, her mother’s name would be great!  I will post the link to the picture as well, since it’s a free site.  The picture is a little blurry.

Thanks!

Birth of Emilia Michel
Father Jozef Michel age 21
Mother Wilhelmina Gramsz age 22
Birth occurred on the 19th/31st of October (see Calendar changes)
Other names are witnesses - not sure of surname (Skacz?)

You'll find the marriage of Jozef & Wilhelmina in 1838 in Pabianice (Evangelical).
20th September
Jozef Michel age 19 born in *, son of Jozef (deceased) and Barbara Larenz living in Pabianice.
Wilhelmina Gramsz, born in Konstantynow, age 20, daughter of Jan and Elzbieta Buk living in Konstantynow

*This looks like Ramburg but I'm unable to find any place with this name. The actual text says urodzonym w [R]amburg  w Czechach. There's obviously Hamburg in Northern Germany but I don't think this was part of the Bohemia/Czechia territory in 1840 to my knowledge.

Thanks so much!  I love researching my German side but the language barriers make it so difficult.  Especially considering they lived in Poland and Russia, as well as Germany.  I really appreciate the information.

I'm guessing they wouldn't have made a mistake with Jozef's birthplace? Could there have been a Ramburg or Hamburg in the "Kingdom of Bohemia" that doesn't exist anymore?

Could it be Rumberk (German Rumburg)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumburk

Records held in Litomerice archives

https://www.soalitomerice.cz/en/

Go to the e-study section .

There are certainly Michel families there, and   families called Lorenz in that area of Bohemia.
