Hi Tanya,

You dont need the Marriage Cert as BumbleB gave you the info from the Cert;

29 July 1876

John Hardakers, 31, widower, Servant.  Father:  James, Labourer
Emily Walker, 19, spinster.  Father:  Richard Labourer

Surname for John is changed from Hardaker to Hardakes - Hardakes very clear for James, and John definitely signs as Hardakes.

1881 Emily and 2 children are visiting the Screvins;
Emely Hardacre   24
Margret E. Hardacre   3
Seelena M. Hardacre    7 mths

1881 John Hardacre born c 1845 Masham is away from home. A Servant (Coachman) and married.

1891 Census
John Hardaker   48
Emily Hardaker   34
Margarette Hardaker   13
Selina M Hardaker   10
George G Hardaker   7
Emily M Hardaker   6
Wilson V Hardaker   3
Robert S W Hardaker   1

Also,have any of you heard of the Hardakers being one of the families to form the Quakers?

The Quakers keep extensive records.
The Library based at Friends House is a unique resource and is one of the largest collections in the world relating to Quakers http://www.quaker.org.uk/library

1851 in Ilton cum Pott**
James Hardakers, 40, Ag Lab
Mary Hardakers, 41
George Hardakers, 11
JOHN Hardakers, 10, Son****
Dinah Hardakers, 7
William Hardakers, 4
All down as born Masham**

So it looks like the Mary visiting in 1871 is his Mother as she says she is born Ilton.

As a marker to this discussion I have just put a Bradford Hardaker on alert!
The lady in question has done quite a lot of research into her family history.

Trish :)

Hi Trish,
Thank you very much for providing more in-depth information from the marriage certificate.  All that I had was the index information for the wedding.

And also thank you to everyone else who has offered snippets of information and advice.
Tanya
