Has anyone else not yet got ThruLines?? I emailed Ancestry and was told I need to add more to my tree [ which I did ] and have far more on my tree than my husbands tree and he has ThruLines up

I was having the same issue. The tree I had linked used the old gedcom way of privatizing someone by having myself and my parents be named 'Living'. Only when I changed this to our real names did ThruLines kick in the very next day. Apparently also using initials can cause this too, so I'd say check to see if your tree does either of these two things.

If you spell names differently or add omit middle names or have different dates the thru lines wont match you to your known relatives .

This is a problem with my relatives who change names and ages while travelling and have anglisized and americanized versions of their names .

I think even the Mac and mc.s dont come up as matches unless you all tick the otherwise known as box

Check that your tree is public. If it is private then it needs to be searchable. Then check that your DNA result is correctly connected to your own profile in the tree.If you have tried to hide the identities of you or your parents or grandparents then this can also create a problem with ThruLines.

Thanks Craclyn, I have done what you have said..now wait 24 hours to see if its made any difference..
I can't see how spelling surnames different should make much of a difference as there are many spelling for quite a lot of surnames

 I have found thrulines rubbish anyway.  I have 'ancestors' on my thrulines from someone else's tree despite my tree and 3 other match's tree have the correct ancestors.

Of course we mere mortals can cope with different spellings and know when Bill is also William
But computer generated brain will compute its not a match even if there is an accompanying photo

In case your latest test doesn't work, I had the same thing for a long time. They finally appeared after I unlinked myself from my parents in my tree, waited 10 min then relinked to my parents. Next day thrulines kidded in along with the other new features that hadn't been working :-)

I’m afraid I can’t agree that Thrulines are “rubbish”. I have made contact with two distant cousins that I would never have found otherwise.

The difficulty is “GIGO”. If someone has inaccurate data in their tree GI, then you will receive GO!

“Garbage in, garbage out”

But then again, I like Ancestry hints even if I have 8,000+ still to process😳
