Help dating old school photo from Northumberland (no. 1)

Hi,

could anyone help me in possibly dating this photo, it is on a cardboard type backing with no other details. It came from my Grandad (born 1933) and could possibly contain his Dad Thomas William Renner as a child (born 1892) living at South Charlton, near Alnwick or perhaps taken by his Grandad Thomas James Renner (born 1858) when he was manager of his local school Chillingham, from 1912 to around 1925.

A possible date may help narrow it down to either one of the above, or of course it may not relate to any of them and I'll have to look for other possible connections. My Grandads Family all lived in the North of Northumberland.

Just a guess, but possibly late 1920s, early 30s.

 Not the earlier people you have suggested I don't think.

- not sure if it is late enough for the 1933 grandfather.   

Looks a bit like my mother's school photos - then it would be 1920s.  The girl in the full pinafore on the left is throwing me - she looks earlier.

So more likely related to my Great Great Grandad and his time as School Manager from 1912-1925, as that would match your time frame a little more.

That was my opinion before reading any others. I'm only going by my own family photos and other school photos I've seen from the same decades.
Girls are wearing short skirts. One girl lying at the front strikes me as very 20thC.  (the little one with hair-slide.)
Notice the smart lad at the end of row in a suit. Is there a name for that style of jacket?
A few children may be wearing clothes made or bought for them, others may be wearing hand-me-downs.

I thought 20s because of the reclining poses of the girls in the front. I have group photos including my grandfather taken in the 20s with some of the men posed in that fashion - very camp.

They're very like the pupils in the link I gave 

I have a pic of my Mum (aged 4) in 1913/14 with a frock/smock like that
