Quebec military records

I'm interested in obtaining any military records for a James Wallace, born around 1785, who lived in the areas around Quebec City. James was a gunner in the 4th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. I'm not really sure what types of service records exist or how I might be able to obtain them, so any help is appreciated.

A couple of entries but none look like yours -  Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service, 1756-1900 - James Wallace - born 1786 - aged 27 years - labourer -  Dorchester, Dorsetshire - Military Date 4 Dec 1813 - Unit 81st Foot Soldiers.

Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service, 1756-1900 -    James Wallace born 1787    West Church, Midlowdon - aged 21 years - Military Date 29 Dec 1808 - Unit 82nd Foot Soldiers, 2nd Battalion.

The remainder of the James Wallace entries are Canada, British Navy Ship Muster Rolls and Pay Lists so again no good.

More info needed but none to give 

The bit that he is from this Battalion comes from the baptism record of one of his children. Other than that I can find him in the 1825 census living in Ste. Catherine de Fossambault but that's about it. I believe his wife is Eleanor Fraser. He has two children, maybe three, that lived to adulthood. Catherine born c.1815 in Quebec and William born c.1817 in Quebec. The third would be a girl whose name I do not know born between 1807-1811, unless this was just a house servant living with him in 1825. A few others died young. All this info is from the Holy Trinity Anglican church in Quebec.


On this census James gives his age as being between 40-60 and his wife is under 45. Given the ages of his children I'm assuming that he is on the lower end of this range, hence the approximate date of 1785.

Do those god-parents names mean anything ?

William Fraser Wallace - 1 September 1817 Quebec, Capitale-Nationale Region, Quebec,  - 19 July 1904 Welland, Niagara Regional Municipality, Ontario.
Parents John Wallace - with this note - William Fraser Wallace was born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, to parents James and Eleanor Wallace. He married Mary A. May around 1850. Together they had seven children:

Yes this is the one son, William. His godparents are not familiar to me but it doesn't mean they aren't related. This is an 'end of the line' for me right now so my information is limited.
