Help KERVIN FAMILY
« on: Sunday 02 June 19 09:50 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have been researching my family history on off for a long time now as a gift for my grandad, however now I have finished uni for the summer I have come back on it again and noticed something that I think is an error but I cant find any records anywhere for him. My grandads grandad was John Kervin born 06 Jan 1878 (some records showing 1880) but gravestone works out as 1878.. On ancestry everyone else seems to have his father as Daniel Kervin which I believe is correct due to a marraige record between John Kervin and Teresa Mcdonough in 1899, but his mother is noted as Ann Doyle. There are no records for this and Daniel and Ann were not married until after John was born. I feel this is incorrect but I am unable to find any birth or baptism records to prove this..

Nothing comes up on the GRO index either, I do understand there will be name varients but is there anything else I can possibly check to put me on the right track.

John Kervin born 06 Jan 1878 in Liverpool
I believed he was baptised 12 Jan 1878 - Our Lady of Reconcilliation in Liverpool (no record, unsure where I attained this info)
Father - possibly Daniel Kervin
Mother - possibly Ann Doyle

John married Teresa McDonough 10 Sept 1899
they both had many many children

sorry if this is very long but Im just hoping maybe someone will be able to help xx

I have been looking for them in censuses and births but no real evidence.

There is the later marriage as you say and I think Ann can be found in earlier census with her father Loughlan/Loughlin Doyle.

Do you have census records?

I think this is the family in 1881 - the census shows the name as David.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27L-9HH9

There is a child ‘David’ on that census aged 14yrs b 1867. Assuming that thus should be Daniel, there is a birth:
Daniel Kirvin 1867 Liverpool, mmn Doyle.

There is a possibility for 1891. I can’t find it on F S. the census entry looks to be Kerwin.

yes I have her father as Loughlin doyle, you are right though there are barely any records.. I wonder why the name is down as Hewin instead of Kervin/Kerwin, makes it very difficult for us lol.. thankyou very much for your help. I really appreciate this. the feeling of getting the correct info feels so good lol
