Fathers profession unable to read

Hi there, I cant quite read the handwriting for fathers proffession for robert sutton on this marriage certificate, can anyone help? I think it says gentleman??

In a case in 1862 Mr. Justice Willes stated that: A gentleman is described in law as a person who has no occupation.

I am surprised as her father was a gentleman,that Margaret couldn't sign her name and marked the marriage cert with an X.

In 1871 Robert Sutton's "Rank, Profession or Occupation" is given as  "Land and Interest of Money". Margaret is not shown. RG10; Piece: 4741; Folio: 147; Page: 26
