I've had similar problems myself.

If it's any help, she was baptised 25/7/1875 Thenford, Northamptonshire, dau. of Thomas and Fanny.

Marriage Dec.qtr.1863 Brackley - Thomas Jeffs and Fanny Smith.

Thomas and Fanny living in Thenford in 1881 and birth entries for other children confirm mmn as Smith.

I had one of these. I think I sent in a request three times. And they replied saying there was no correction required. I asked them to show me how to find it on the index but they didn’t ever answer that question. I ended up ordering the cert  using the  freeBMD details . I hoped that doing that might generate a correction but no.

It must be the clunkiest search function ever designed.

I can’t find her any which way (can’t find any of the other 9 births with the same vol/page reference either).

If you compare some of the rest of page 3b 10, all of them appear to be missing.

Lost Cousins founder Peter Calver has tried to bring this to the GRO's attention, but with limited success:
http://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/news/home-office-responds-after-genealogy-blogger-finds-records-are-missing-gro-indexes

And here's the original Lost Cousins newsletters:
https://www.lostcousins.com/newsletters2/midnov18news.htm#GRO
https://www.lostcousins.com/newsletters2/endnov18news.htm#GRO
https://www.lostcousins.com/newsletters2/jan19news.htm#GROmissing

It would appear that page 10 is not in isolation, I can't immediately see entries on several pages before that either.

You are not alone!

The GRO has added one Death index record that I reported as a missing entry, no births added as of yet.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Don't forget that the index info on FreeBMD is not the same as the (relatively recent) online search index by the GRO, which is a new compilation from the registers.  FreeBMD is just a transcription of the original quarterly indexes.  So some early errors may have been corrected, and some new ones introduced  :( .

One of my ancestors was untraceable until the new GRO index appeared - it had been indexed as Parr instead of Tarr, which given the script on the original certificate was a natural mistake to make.  But that cannot explain the absence of a complete page of entries.

There was a similar issue here:
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=812813.msg6733470

The new index is far from perfect, but a combination of the new (GRO) and old (FreeBMD) seems to work in most cases.

I've had a couple of 'missing' entries added to the GRO site.  Also they had my granny's birth listed in Hewington RD, which never existed.  They changed it, and others, to Headington when I pointed it out.  That error did surprise me as I'd assumed they would use a dropdown list for RDs ???
