Francis Walters confusion
« on: Wednesday 05 June 19 11:40 BST (UK) »
Morning everyone.

Ive been struggling for a week or so now trying to pin point a Francis Walters in the 1841/51 census. Can any kind person help me try to find him please? Here is what ive found already....

1901 census - 13, Wind Street, Ferndale

Francis is aged 62 with his wife Gweny (born Cardiff) and 2 children Mary Jane and Jenkin. He states born Llangenny, Monmouthshire.

1891 census - 13, Wind Street, Ferndale

States he is 46 and just of Monmouthshire. With wife Gwen (born Glamorganshire) and children Griffith, Mary J and Jenkin.

Cant find them in 1881, but in 1871 at 7, Double Row, Hafod Ddriniog, Llanwonno:

States he is 33 and from Bedwellty, Monmouthshire with his wife Gwenllian who is from Laverton, Glamorgan. Son William is 4 and they have a lodger Richard Jones, 35 from Brecon.

Ive got the marriage cert which shows them married on July 8th 1866 at the parish church in Llanwonno.

Francis is 27 living in Blaenllechau, Ferndale whose father is stated as William Walters, a labourer.
Gwenllian is 21 also living in Blaenllechau whose father is Griffith Thomas, a haulier.

I cannot find Francis in 1861 or 1851, but a possible for 1841....

Gaervawr, Llangwm Ucha, Chepstow, Monmouthshire.

William Walters, 45, Monmouthshire.
Ann Walters, 30, Mon
Francis Walters, 5 , Mon
Ann Walters, 3, Mon
Mary Walters, 1, Mon

Not sure if this is the right family in 1841. Has anyone else got a better idea as im completely baffled.

There is a Francis Walters buried at Llanwonno 26th Feb 1920 aged 83. This is all I can find.

Thank you,
David.

Was just about to post bapts from Llan-Gwm Uchaf, St Jerome, Parish Register.  Info on freereg.

Well done on finding marriage Osprey

Francis age 73, still alive in last available census, still at Wind Street living alone, *states married.  The death you found is a good possible to be him.

* Wife visitor in household of Jenkin & family.
