On the 1920 census in Philadelphia, Penns i have the following family,

Dalton Stockwell b. 1873, England
Annie Stockwell b. 1876, England
Frances Stockwell b. 1898, England
Lilian Stockwell b. 1902, MA
Alice Stockwell b. 1904, PA
Frank Stockwell b. 1906, PA
Herbert Stockwell b. 1908, CT
John Dalton Stockwell b. 1913 CT
Alice Briggs b. 1894, England


The person of interest is Alice Briggs.

The mother, Annie Louisa's maiden name was Briggs leading me too possibly believe she was her illegitimate child?

Annie Louisa Briggs didn't marry Dalton until 1896.

The family originated from Yorkshire, England but i cant find any trace of Alice Briggs before the 1920 census? Can anyone help?

There is a passenger manifest for the "New England" steamship from Liverpool on Jun 22 1899 that arrived at Boston on Jun 30 1899
On board were
Dalton STOCKWELL a mechanic aged 37; Anne 25; Frances E 1
also directly below them are
Walter BRIGGS a woolsorter aged 31; Ada 31; Nellie 8 and Alice 6
They all gave the same place as their last residence that I am finding difficult to read but am posting for you

I think that Alice BRIGGS is her niece

Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan

It could be but it is very difficult to say for sure; other letter s on the page are different

There is a baptism 7 May 1893 Leeds for Alice Briggs with parents Walter & Ada.
