From experience - it will be a lot bigger than you think.

I printed out both my tree and my wife's. Done on A4 sheets (landscape), mine was about 4 ft high, but 18 1/2 foot long. My wife's, over 20 ft wide.

It also took three people to tape it all up. In fairness, one of the three people was a child who was just adding finger pressure at spots to stop the sheets moving.

I then went over the lines by hand with coloured felt tips, so that individual family groups could be identified.

Each persons avatar was only the size of the end of a thumb, but I could have made it as large as 4" x 4", which would have made the tree enormous.

We have a couple of printers locally and I have been quoted between £20 and £40 to have it printed out in one continuous roll - if it is in a pdf.
Size is a problem. Either it is everybody on their hands and knees, getting backache, or 6 ft a time on the dining table.

Since then, new data and people have come to light - I will not be printing mine out again for a good few years.

Good Luck

Regards

... Could be costly, and hard to display.... unless you have the baronial hall to do it justice!

Have a look at Tribalpages.com.  There are free charts for up to 5 generations

https://www.tribalpages.com/free-family-tree-charts.html

You can upload a Gedcom file to get your data entered quickly and for a small fee they have printable charts that can show up to 9 generations in a fan shape on an A4 sheet - handy for having a portable record of your direct lines although of course the writing is quite small!

Might not be quite what you're looking for but there are some attractive options which are good for printing out to give to family members.

Came across these people at the Family Tree Live Show and the charts looked really good in person.
