We can’t give detailed info from the 1939 Register as I am sure you know.  In any event it doesn’t give relationships between listed individuals.

This marriage may be of interest, but it postdates Alice’s birth:

Actually I think Alice was married so we can’t tell you much about her without her maiden name.

Was she the Alice M Morris(s) who had married Leonard C H Kirtland, Jun qtr 1939 Gosport?

Looks like it. Leonard Clarence Henry Kirtland born 12 Jan 1915, died Dec qtr 1975 Salisbury.

Alice Mary Kirtland, born 12 Aug 1914, died June 1986, St. Austell. Could be her.

A birth registration of an Alice Mary Morris in Cork, district Kinsale, date given is 12 August 1914, might be worth investigating

Thanks for the replies. I am extremely confused. The owner of the household was my grandfather, Leonard F. Kirtland b. Windsor 1885. I have no idea who Alice M Kirtland was. Could it be just coincidence  that she had the same family name. I think that E E Kirtland, Lronatds wife was  a Green and that she had a sister called Maud, though, I do not understand how this person might have been her.

It is rather late with me and I am too tired to think clearly. There just may be a clue here

It seems fairly straightforward that Alice was a daughter-in-law of the householder Leonard F Kirtland, having earlier in 1939 married Leonard’s son Leonard C H Kirtland - see previous posts.

Child born in Gosport in 1940?

Why does it say Crosshaven instead of Murphy on that marriage entry!
Margaret Christina(?), sibling of Alice Mary, born 25 Dec 1915
