Naturalization Records
« on: Friday 07 June 19 00:22 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

I've been trying to find naturalization records with no success.

I've been trying to find a record for Jens Peder Prebensen (aka Peter or James) who arrived in the USA in 1872 and settled in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Also a record for his sister Julia Prebensen who I believe was issued a naturalization February 21, 1924. She was living in Chicago, Illnois at that time.

Also a record for their sister Karen Prebensen (aka Carrie). She married Chris Jorgensen in 1882 in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Any help would be fantastic,
Warmest regards
Ashley

FamilySearch has many naturalization records for Winnebago County, Wisconsin but they are not indexed so you would have to laboriously browse through them.  I have done the same for Marquette County.  It was tedious work and the results there were not entirely satisfactory but it looks like your best option.

I guess naturalization were issued at different times? What I mean is, that Julia's brother Peter may have been issued naturalization years earlier or later than her?

Yes, of course.  Peter probably declared his intention to naturalize within five years of his arrival and then around three years later, if all went well, he filed a petition for citizenship and became a citizen.  Julia would have gained citizenship by marrying an American or, after 1922, she could have done so on her own account whether she was married or not.
