According to FindMyPast index, Christopher Shepherdson is buried in Ardwick cemetery.

Now that IS promising... Henry Spurr/Shepherd worked & died in Ancoats, and William Shepherdson is recorded at Travis Street Manchester which is very close to the Ardwick area. I will take a closer look. Thank you :-)

The death was in Ardwick - earlier post.
It was the Didsbury death for Mary that I wondered about.

It was the Didsbury death for Mary that I wondered about.

Ardwick I think is a good possibility. I've now located some descendants of William Shepherdson (informant at death of Henry Spurr), and on the 1901 and 1911 they've shifted base to slightly SE of Ancoats to occupy areas N and S of Ashton Old Road (A635) = Ardwick.

Didsbury I'd suggest is too far out of area...

NB The later family are using ShepheArdson, and several records have been corrected to include the extra 'a'.

Help please: I've just found a record (just the Index) of the death of a Mary Shepherdson Oct 1863 Manchester. Do you have the ability to look into this further, to pin the area down more precisely?

Think that is likely to be this burial

Burial Date   Deceased   Cemetery   Grave Number   Grave Details
25/10/1863   Mary Shepperdson   Manchester General Cemetery   UnknownSection Unknown 18631025   View details

But she is only 5. According to GRO

currently concentrating on NUTCHER & MARSHALL families, Hampshire.

Yes I agree this is the right burial - but aged only 5. (Thanks for the link).

If Christopher Shepherdson died in 1859 (Ardwick), and Mary was still alive at this point, she could have remarried, maybe as Sedgwick... or gone back to Yorkshire... or never went to Manchester... Too many possibilities.

Sometimes you have to count your blessings that you've found so much information, don't you, and just accept that some things are (forever) missing.

I think I'll leave them in peace now, ever hopeful I might at some time in the future stumble on a baptism for Henry Spurr.

Very grateful for your help.
