I have seen " MAM & DAD " tattooed on men's and women's forearms. That's a good start for a family tree. On paper I make countless corrections and add in new information as soon as it is revealed.
So you need to be sure you got all your correct names and dates before tattooing it onto your skin in perpetuity.
It's not like a spreadsheet or PowerPoint that you can airbrush bits out.

Great article "The Girl With The Family History Tattoo" and a very creative tattoo with inspiration from the roots of different branches of her ancestry. The Tattoo meaning would not be immediately obvious but a great talking point.

Perhaps tattoos of this quality could be modern equivalents to heraldic shields?

A bit off topic but I came across a young man recently who had the opening bars of music of The Radetzky March tattooed on his arms, in memory of his grand father who had recently died.

Wasn’t it Kenton Archer who, many years ago, had some Chinese characters tattooed somewhere on his anatomy which translated as “slippery when wet”.

Not into having a tattoo of any kind done at my age. I am now on the wrong side of three score years and ten so it would go up in smoke along with me sooner rather than later
