June Boxell
« on: Saturday 08 June 19 16:29 BST (UK) »
June Boxell seems to be causing a bit of a headache in my famliy tree

There is a record that suggests that she was born in 1931 to Sidney A Boxell & Ena Boxell nee Calver.

Another record in the 1939 Register that replaced the 1931 census suggests that June Boxell was an inferred name and her actual name was June Short.

The only other information I have is that in (Jan-Mar) 1979 and registered in Hillingdon a June Boxell  appears to have married a Frederick Schultz and a Frederick Short. This is taken from FreeBDM

FreeBDM also appears to suggest she never had any children.

There is a record of Ms Jane Schultz dying in the OX4 postcode area in 2017.

Can anyone tell me if these are, in fact, the same person or point me in the direction of sites etc that may be able to unpick this for me please?

Thanks in advance

If there has been an amendment to her surname on the 1939 register that would normally indicate a marriage after 1939 to a 'Short'

In the 1939, there is a June Boxell born 16/Aug/1931 with (apparently) parents Sidney and Ena

This June Boxell subsequently marries a man named Short, as shown by the green note above her name.

However, there are two other June Boxell named people in the Register, both born in 1931.

Are you sure that your June Boxell is the one born to Sidney and Ena?

Fairly certain as Sydney Boxell was a relative of mine

Would you happen to know what the entry FPIA HT 13 5 86 means in the first column of the 1939 document?

13 5 86 is 13 May 1986 - the date the adjustment was made to the register.  This register was used by the NHS after WW2 and updated by them. The letters normally relate to the registration district where the amendment was made

Possible marriage as you say

June Boxell
Reg Date:   Jan/Feb/Mar 1979
Hillingdon
Greater London
Spouse:   Frederick Short
Vol No:   13
Page:   0600

I see the Schultz marriage apparently with the same date/place/ref details.

Added:  you may have to buy the cert(s) to find which is your June

Please excuse my naievety but if the original record from1939 refers to a school child why would the record be amended to show the married name almost fifty years later?

As Rosie99 says, the register was used by the NHS (amazing as it seems now in our computerised age!!)

And immensely helpful as a result in finding marriages for relatives tracked down in the 1939  ;D

With ref to my last reply, I think given the 1939 notation, if that is your June, then the marriage is to Frederick Short.
