My 4xgrandfather was George Branscombe born c 1778 Farringdon Devon.He was the son of William Branscombe and Mary.George was a sailor and  married Mary Hutchinson in 1808 In Hastings East sussex.I would like to find anything more about his family,I have looked on ancestry but havent had any luck.Thanks Kiwikate

Hi Kiwikate,

Your George Branscombe was a half brother to my 3x great grandmother Mary Ann Branscombe.

George's father William, after the death of his first wife Mary Lang, married Sarah Hayman at Withycombe Raleigh in 1793.

William parents were John Branscombe & Elizabeth Perriman, married at Aylesbeare in 1752.
