Worth looking at is ...
1901 4 Fair Street Mile End Old Town (RG13/328/91/6)
William Henry Kemp, head, 36, druggists foreman, born Stepney
Maud Kemp, wife, 24, born Stepney
Charles E Kemp, son, 10, ditto
Arthur Kemp, son, 8, ditto
William H Kemp, son, 2, ditto.

They at found again at the same address 10 years later and William H jnr is known as Will. WHK snr states married 1897.....possibly the WHK marrying Maud Annie Ryell  1897 in Stepney.

Edited - forget this, the marriage of WHK to Maud states father is John kemp.

Jo  :)

Charles and Arthur - mmn Seymour
William - mmn Ryall

Hello, and thanks for the wonderful response.

I recognize all those names given, especially the paternity of WHKsr as John Kemp, which does not apply in 'my' case.  Pullcotts farm is familiar but i had discounted that, however i could be wrong to have done so.

An entry relating to Phyllis May Kemp's death had that her late husband, WHK jr was that he was a "Ret'd Company Director".  What that company was i don't know.  I've thought it may relate to Pullcott's Farm, i'm just not sure.

I agree the marriage reg is the only place to go to now to see and hopefully have it confirmed that WHK sr, born/reg in Whitechapel in 1867, was indeed Uncle Will's father.

I'll get back should i find something, and would enjoy any other findings from you guys!

A great website.

Kind regards,
Julie.

If you have a look at the newspapers on Findmypast and search for “Pullcotts”, you should find an item on the marriage of the Kemps’ youngest son in 1953 which includes a photograph of the happy couple.  I don’t know whether this son appears in any of your photographs (or even if the Pullcotts family is the correct Kemp family) but it may be worth your having a look.

Hello again.

I checked out the Pullcotts Kemp photo of 1953.  Am still not certain.  Maybe there is a likeness between this  young Kemp chap and my "Uncle Will" (ie son and father respectively.)

Now i will definitely order the marriage reg for William and Phyllis.

I seem to remember that on Phyllis's death reg it said her husband, presumably William, who had died in 1977, many years before she passed, had been a "company director".  I don't know what company - was it horticulturally based.  There was another Kemp possibility who was a Gardener but that could apply to Pullcotts also in that it seems to have been a market garden.

Kind regards,
Julie.
