Death registration
« on: Monday 10 June 19 15:17 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Could anyone tell me why there would be two differemt death records for the same person?

Luigi Romano
Death Age:
79
Birth Date:
14 Sep 1927
Registration Date:
Nov 2006
Registration district:
Rhondda
Register Number:
17B
District and Subdistrict:
864/1B
Entry Number:
121

Lewis  Griffiths
Death Age:
79
Birth Date:
14 Sep 1927
Registration Date:
Nov 2006
Registration district:
Rhondda
Register Number:
17B
District and Subdistrict:
864/1B
Entry Number:
121

I thought maybe he might have anglicised his name, he married in 1950 to Irene Thorngate but uses the name Griffiths, not sure how I can find out where he was born etc.

Any help would be appreciated

It is only one death record that has been INDEXED twice as it obviously has both names recorded on the certificate, probably in the format of 'alias' or 'also known as'.

Hi
Are there any clues on the marriage certificate?

You do have the certificate?

His death certificate will show his place (and date) of birth.  I don't know when English/Welsh certs started including that information, but it's on my father's death cert from 1989.

GRO are now charging £11 for paper certificates, and unfortunately this is too recent to be available as a PDF (which would have been £7).

Thank you both for your replies, I'm waiting for the marriage certificate so that I can gather some more clues.
