There are loads of William Hardy chaps popping up on even a basic hunt round ... and I'm assuming the 1822 is a year of birth. The advice given by Ruskie is sound. You'll get loads of help on here.

   HI Here's more info on my great grandfather that could maybe help you
       He was born George William Hardy in 1871/72 in Sheffield
      He died on December 5th 1936 at 64
       He married Annie Elizabeth Beatson in September 1902
       She was born in 1875/76 & died at 84 on February 6th 1960
       They are both buried at Walkley Cemetery in Sheffield
       G.W was a steeplejack/ scaffolder.

George William Hardy birth Dec.1872 Sheffield, mmn Jow.   Parents George Kay Hardy and Elizabeth Jow married Dec.1867 Sheffield

George Kay Hardy b.1849 Sheffield, mmn Kay.  Parents William Hardy, mason, son of Anthony Hardy, mason and Selina Kay , dau. of George Kay, married 20/5/1843 Sheffield.

William Hardy bc.1822 Bakewell, Derbyshire (per 1851 census and marriage..

Think this is William's baptism:

William Hardy bp.27/1/1822 Winster, Derbyshire, son of Anthony Hardy and Anne. (Winster came under the registration district of Bakewell).

Anthony Hardy married Anne Marshall 11/10/1819 Winster, Derbyshire - both were single.

Can't find family in 1841 census.
