Merchant seaman - mates
« on: Tuesday 11 June 19 09:49 BST (UK) »
Sorry, I am very new to this. I am looking into a family sory for someone who died in 1864.

I discovered very quickly that Robert Back or Bach was a mate on the Belle of Devon and other ships including Wild Horses from Nova Scotia.

Robert was born in 1832, London and died in Glasgow 1864.

Would there be any Merchant Navy records for him?

to get the information you want, you sometimes have to subscribe. ItŽs not all that expensive.
I have an Ancestry subscription, without which i wouldŽnt be where i am now.

But it all boils down to how important this is for you

Those are the only two records I could find on FindMyPast that match the info that you have supplied. There may still be other records elsewhere though. There is also this free site but you need to sign up.
