**M.M. L/G 13.3.19** Complete
« on: Tuesday 11 June 19 21:20 BST (UK) »
I have been looking through a service record for a Thomas Fleck and on Medals, Decorations and annuities it has M.M.  L/G  13.3.19 against it.
Is this the Military Medal and what is the L/G?

Yes. And L/G is London Gazette which May have short description of why the medal was awarded in the edition dated 13 March 1919.
The L/G is available free online.

The gazette doesn't usually say why the medal was awarded. Just the name and date of award .

Which is why I said “May have”

In his record you will see that he joined 1st Battalion Machine Gun Corps in March 1918.  The LG publication was a belated entry for the award which was actually published in 1st Division Routine Orders on 4 October 1918 (that is also recorded on his papers).

The list of awards may well hold a clue as to when the relevant action took place.  My guess it was in September 1918.  You may wish to read the battalion war diary at https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7351882
or on Ancestry at:

Thank you MaxD.
I did see the award date in another part of his service papers.
Don`t think he liked Scottish Rifles and "deserted" and signed with Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) and was later transferred to M.G.C.
