Help locating a Belgium birth please
« on: Thursday 13 June 19 01:21 BST (UK) »
Hi guys,

I wonder if anyone could possibly help me please?

I am trying to locate a birth for a Marguerite Elizabeth (or Eliza) M Michiels born 29th July 1925 in Belgium possibly Antwerp. I have found her first marriage to a Robert T Rook in 1947 also in Belguim in the army marriages index but I am stuck on her birth, parents and any siblings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Ann

Have you tried the Belgian State Archive?

1925 birth records in Belgium are not publicly available due to privacy legislation (Note: Rootschat doesn't allow any discussions of these people either unless there is 100% certainty that they are deceased. At the moment the rules of this forum are not being followed!)

"As of March 31, 2019, access to records in Belgium is unrestricted to those more than 100 years for births, 75 years for marriages, and 50 years for deaths. Records later than these time periods are not open to the general public, and those after 1915 are not online. These records can only be viewed by special permission after writing to the municipal authorities of the municipality where the event occurred. A fee may be charged. "

Hi, thank you for this information, it will explain why I haven't found anything. Marguerite was my great grandma who died in 1985 and unfortunately nothing is known about her birth or parents.

Thank you.

Thank you.
I’ve been searching for three days for a friend whose family have died and he requires legal papers. At last we know why we couldn’t find the info.
This has been a great help.
