Welcome to Rootschat Bob. Since you have a yellow question mark on your post then make a statement, it is not clear whether you are providing information or trying to ask a question about William McIntosh.

Reported by Bob McIntosh on Today at 11:13. They left the following message:

My grandfather William McIntosh was the first Presbyterian Minister in Germiston at the time of the South African republic in the 1890's and I want this confirmed.

BM , this was "reported to Moderator" , you need to press the blue "Reply"(under the latest post) to post on the thread.

Hi, Bob:

I'm still a bit unclear as to your request. In what way (or why) do you need confirmation?

Is it that you know your grandfather was a minister who served in South Africa and you've seen his name on the website linked above by scotmum and now you need to find out if the person named on the website was actually your grandfather?

If so, there a probably a number of ways you could check. You could:
- contact the church via their website (or their Facebook page) and ask if they have any biographical information about the William McIntosh who served there and that way you could see if they match up
- find an obit for your grandfather (if there was one) and see if it mentions where and when he served in South Africa
- search the newspapers in the town or city he was originally from for notices about him and his family
- search Google Books or the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/) to see if there are any books about the history of the church's missions in South Africa (or worldwide) that might have listed ministers' names and postings

Good luck in your search!

Josephine
