County Monaghan.
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

If you could buy his death certificate it should give you more information. Australian death certificates give a lot of details. How long he lived in Australia, where he lived, who he married and when and his children's names and who his parents were. They can be an absolute goldmine.  I believe that they are expensive but if you are stuck with your Thomas, it should be invaluable.

Thomas died in 1902 in South Australia.  Don't waste your money purchasing a South Australian Certificate as the information is scant.  There is no such thing as an Australian death certificate.  Each State and Territory in Australia is responsible and maintains its own Registries.  Information on certificates differs from State to State.

My apologies if I mislead anyone with regard to an Australian death certificate. I had no idea that every state and territory varies or that there is no such thing as an Australian certificate. We live and learn!

I have two death certificates issued in Victoria which were nothing short of amazing in the amount of information they contained.
