Jack family
« on: Saturday 15 June 19 22:33 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information about this family who lived at 14 East Arthur Place Edinburgh in 1891
John Jack 46 Brewer's Labourer b. Dunnet
Isabella McKay Jack 47 b. Thurso
Alex Jack 13
David Jack 11
Annie Jack 10
James Jack 9
Andrewina Jack 5
John Jack 3

In 1901 they were still at the same Address: 14 East Arthur Place, Edinburgh but only John Snr Andrew and Andrewina were present

Isabella who was my  gt gt grandmother passed away in 1898 and John Snr in 1910. I found Andrewina passed on in 1942 , she had a daughter Isabell... I cannot find any info about the rest of the family

Many thanks

1901 shows Andrewina & Alexander - not Andrew.  John jnr is not shown so have you checked for a death between 1891-1901

Have you checked the 1911 census for Alexander, David and James to see if they are married?

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

The 1901 has a David Jack b 1881 Leith living in Stirling as a boarder and there are 2 possibles for John jnr.  One with Jack grandparents and the other is a patient in Lanarkshire

Hi tryggo

Some family trees show Alexander married a Mary Jane Bee in 1915.

Scotlands People actually show this marriage in 1916 in Newington. Maybe the marriage was end of year and registered early 1916.

Would be easy for you to check and verify on Scotlands People (link above from Carole).

Thank you very much for the prompt replies and apologies for the earlier typo.
I had checked the 1911 census but did not glean much from it.
I found the death of Andewina both in SP and in a newspaper cutting from Edinburgh Evening News
However with your help I now have something to go on
Many thanks

May help in your search - John b 1887 was John McKenzie Jack according to the tree mentioned above

Can't see a marriage or death using his full name
