I wonder if Patrick & George's father was in the army & stationed in Antigua when brothers were born? Will take a look at military births for the period.

I wonder if it is possible to find out which regiments were in Antigua in 1829 - 1836 - Patrick born ca 1840, George ca 1835? If army parents died abroad, would the army bring orphans home?

I have looked at army deaths for Fuller 1834 - 1841 with no success.

I found 2 Fullers in the army in Antigua in 1841 census
   Francis Fuller
Unit or regiment   59Th Foot
Year   1841
Country   Antigua
The National Archive reference   WO 12/6827
William Fuller
Captain
Unit or regiment   59Th Foot
Year   1841
Country   Antigua
The National Archive reference   WO 12/6827

Not saying they are related to the brothers but it shows it was the 59th that was in Antigua in 1841. Have not yet found which regiment was there before.

So is your family the Smiths? Or are the brothers living in the house you now occupy?

I understand it was quite common for orphans to be taken in by families who received payment from the parish to care for them.

ADDED: Correction to reply#14 - Patrick born ca 1830.

Thanks guys,this is all fantastic!
My family are the Smiths, who were quite well off and well ranked, so I can't imagine them taking random orphans. .
We know that John was "of Irish Parentage" and was "good friends with the Duke of Bedford", who put him in his estate office when someone else stuffed him up, but the surviving daughter who was questioned about him couldn't remember anything about his parents and vaguely remember something about young cousins being with them for a time..

I'm thinking the boys could be John's nephews, which could give me a lead back to his parents.
Someone get me a sherlock Holmes hat  ;D
