Henry M Miller Help
« on: Monday 17 June 19 20:32 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Trying to find further details of my great-great-grandfather, Henry M Miller.  I think he was born in 1867 in Iowa & died in 1958.  He married Ellen Submittie Speraw.  Just trying to further details of his date of birth & death & also of his parents.

Oli

Put his name with the initial into the search record box on www.familysearch.org:  a free site, but you might have to register to see any actual documents that are available.
https://tinyurl.com/y2nn7gt5 (www.familysearch.org)

There is a marriage to Ellen Speraw in 1895 that states his parents as:  John Miller and Malinda Morknell (this name maybe Markwell).  I would then try to search the censuses for the Miller family group.  Ellen's parents are listed as Walter Speraw and Lizzie Lang.

Someone has trees for John & Malinda -

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/KNYP-VVT

It's worth double checking the sources, but at least that's something to work from.

Thanks, struggling to login/register to the FamilySearch site but hopefully get there eventually.  I'm just checking his family as what I've come up with is that he was related to an American Indian (sorry if that's the wrong term) - his great-great-grandmother - but my father thinks this is wrong.  So just trying to find out whether the relation is actually correct or if I have gone wrong somewhere.

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for the info.  Have managed to login to Family Search & matches what you stated.  Using various sites etc., the family seems to trace back to a Native American through the Miller line but my father thinks this is incorrect & that there are Irish roots so just trying to find if I've gone wrong or if my father has heard wrong.

Unfortunately don't have confirmation from other family members yet.
