British births in Brazil
« on: Tuesday 18 June 19 11:21 BST (UK) »
Is there anyway of finding information on Brits born in Brazil - specifically looking for Joseph Robert Gordon Walker b 1909 Petropolis and his brother Archibald Gordon Walker b 1910 Petropolis.  Was hoping for baptism records or anything that gave their address?
Father was Robert Joseph Walker a civil engineer.

On FindMyPast there is only the Gro Consular Birth Indices (1849 To 1965) which is just a typed record. No details or dates

If they appear on FindMyPast ,the certificates are obtainable from the GRO.

I don't know what you have seen, I do not have a sub

The only name & date on FindMyPast that pops up for me is:
Walker   Archibald Gordon   1910   British Civil Service Evidence Of Age   Brazil

Thanks I did not know you could send off for these... started to fill in GRO form and it asks for GRO reference - There is no ref # on FindMyPast but it does give the page, volume and line #....do you think that would do?!

Page Volume and line is the reference but I can't remember how to indicate you are referring to the GRO Armed Forces and Overseas Births and Baptisms 1911-1915.  Someone hopefully will know??

In case you haven't seen this crossing already:

Joseph R Walker (Sr), aged 61 years 7 months, born and resident Waybridge, England, a civil engineer
accompanied by
wife Madeline, aged 42 years 10 months, born Richmond, England
son Joseph R Walker (Jr), aged 15 years, April 19 1924, born "Petroplous" (sic) Brazil

Madeline Gordon Douglas married Joseph Robert Walker in Eastry district in 1908
(www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk has some info - he second son of the late Charles Walker, she youngest daughter of Admiral R. Gordon Douglas)

Looking for the father as Joseph Robert rather than Robert Joseph I found this:
https://archive.org/details/chartersupplemen1910inst/page/193

It is a list of members of the Institution of Civil Engineers as of 1910
Joseph Robert Walker (on page 193) is listed as having become a member in 1892, his address at time of publication being Caixa 711, Rio de Janeiro
https://archive.org/details/chartersupplemen1906inst/page/226
https://archive.org/details/chartersupplemen1912inst/page/266
The same here in 1906 and 1912

Caixa 711 also appears as the address of "C H Walker & Co", and unfortunately I think this might be more like a P.O. Box address than a street address?
