kirwan, kirven, kerwin, kirwin, kirvin etc etc lol
« on: Tuesday 18 June 19 15:47 BST (UK) »
hi wonder if anyone could have better luck than I, I am researching my mums side (KERVIN) lots of name variations through the records. I have my grandads grandad as JOHN KERVIN m TERESA MCDONOUGH 10 sept 1899 in Liverpool. John's father was DANIEL KIRWAN m ANN DOYLE 26 Feb 1878 in Liverpool. I believe Daniel was born in Ireland and came over to Liverpool but I am unable to locate any records for him, there seem to be a lot of Daniel Kerwins in the area around that time but I am unable to identify the correct one, also I have a possible Census match for Ann and John plus a sibling where Ann is stated as Head with wife written above. If Daniel had passed, would she be classed as a Widow? I have found one death record that would fit if he had passed but the spouse is recorded as a MARY so this must be a different person. I would really appreciate any help with this as I feel I've hit a major brick wall. xx

sorry if anyone has read this before I had posted it in the wrong group xx

John's pension military record  with spouse Teresia McDonough has him as age 35 years and 326 days (open to interpretation as ancestry thinks 32 years) on 9th November 1914 - which would give birth of mid/late December 1878

Ancestry has a data base of Liverpool Catholic Weddings. The 1878 marriage gives Daniel's father as Daniel and,I suspect, the name of Summer Seat as a spouse(!) could well indicate residence(?) in Summer Street,Dublin. It has North and South variants.

Regards
Roger

Added: Apparently there is or was a Summer Seat in Liverpool. The record has them at number 13

Free search of 1939 register for a John born 6th January 1879 +/- 2 years gives a John Kervin 1880 in Liverpool  - just a bit forgetful as to age?
