Both John senior and John junior are consistently in the hawker/general dealer/costermonger line of work.

In fact John from Westminster would have been 29 rather than 30 at census time in 1871 (birth reg is Dec qtr 1841 Westminster, mmn Potter) but that is well within the usual tolerance for ages in censuses.

Thanks avm228 for confirming occupations.
Both ages and occupations fit with both marriage certificate and the census records, so the Westminster family is almost certainly the right one.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

This John looks promising:
Baptised at St Margaret’s, Westminster, 22 November 1841
John Dudley, son of John (a hawker) and Frances, of 12 John’s Buildings.

What site was the above record from as I have been unable to find it on the sites I frequent.

I have found another John & Frances who are from Ireland and are silk weavers and their son John is also a silk weaver..
