I have an old family photo which I believe the woman in it is my grandmothers sister.
No idea who the man is, as don’t know which 1of7 sisters this is!
Can anybody identify what type of officer/soldier he could of been so I know an idea of where to start looking.
It’s a different looking uniform to the one my grandfather was wearing (on another thread)

Looks like officer WWII hot weather uniform, Middle East, Africa or Far East. Buttons officers. He has collar badges, don't know what they were though. Also on his pith helmet.
Griffiths Llandogo, Mitcheltroy, Mon. and Whitchurch Here (Also Edwards),  18th C., Griffiths FoD 19th Century.

Good spot Tony.  The shoulder badge could well be an officer's insignia.

The posted photo is a montage, the image of the lady and child has been laid over the top of the soldier photo. The same image of the lady and child is a normal photo on the desk next to the Pith Helmet. The lady and child do not look they are dressed for a hot climate.

Did they have to be?

Although Britain relinquished all control over South Africa in 1931, SA provided significant forces as detailed in Link below. Large numbers of men volunteered for the RAF.
