William John James Phillips

Please can anyone help with finding information on this gentleman. He was born 3rd Qtr 1850 the first child of William & Harriet Phillips in Portsea. I can find him on the 1861 census at 11 years age.
Not with the family on the 1871 census. I did find a marriage Mar 1871 of a William Phillips to either Dorcas Hayes or Martha Shephard on FreBmd. Tried to pin down which one and failed. I have also tried to find a death record but too many William Phillips' !  Any Assistance, as always, greatly appreciated. david
