Peter Hansen Wisconsin
« on: Saturday 22 June 19 00:30 BST (UK) »
Hello there,

I am doing this on behalf of a friend, who does not like computers. But if you have any questions, I am more than happy to ask them.

What they are wishing to find information on what happened to their great great uncle Peder Hansen (aka Peter Hansen). He was born Denmark on March 2, 1859 and came to the USA in July, 1882 with his 2 brothers Preben (born 1860) and Mads (born 1864).

They initially settled in Ashland, Wisonsin. And while the history is known about Mads and Preben... not a lot id known about Peter. If he married or when he died etc. The last thing known about Peter is that he became Sheriff of Ashland County... at a guess, about 1900.

Please find attached a card with Peter's bid to be Sheriff. Any help or assistance would be wonderful.

With warmest regards, Ashley

You state that Mads and Preben initially settled in Ashland County, WI.  What other information do you have on them?  Where did they settle?  Dates and places of death?  Do you know the names of their parents?  Any further information might help to reveal info on Peter.

Hi Genealiza,

I found this: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MMVT-5NP

His mother was Bertha Marie Hanson, who died in 1918.

His brother Preben married Cristina and they had a daughter Mary Hansen born in 1887. They finally seattled in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mads married Petra Hansen and they finally settled in Portland, Oregon. He died July 17, 1915 in Portland.

Assuming that is the Peater Hansen you seek in the 1900 census, it appears that family, like his brother Mads, also ended up settling in Portland, Oregon.
