Philliphia E Nicholls - birth/baptism
« on: Saturday 22 June 19 11:24 BST (UK) »
Philliphia E Nicholls married James Lyden on 12 Nov 1868 at Killala, Mayo. Bride's father :- John.

English census :- b c 1849/ 50 Co Mayo.

It is possible her father, John, was an English (Cornish!) coastguard.

Is there any trace of her baptism?

Does the marriage confirm the occupation of her father?

Thank you to all who responded. I think I now have sufficient information to accurately deduce Philliphia's parentage.

James Pashbee Lyden was baptised in Reculver, Kent in 1874. (Family Search). Mmn Nicholls (GRO Index)
James Lyden/Philliphia E Nicholls married 1868, Mayo. Bride's father John. (Family Search)

James Pashbee Nicholls born 1847, Cornwall. Parents John and Mary Ann (Nicholls) Nicholls.(Cornwall OPC) John sailor, later coastguard. Stationed in Cornwall and Ireland.

The marriage register shows Philliphia's father, John, as a coastguard  (thanks, Dathai and Heywood) which satisfies me of the family connection. Please let me know if there is flaw in my reasoning.
